DEAR HRS PARENTS: 2012-13
Calendar
1st COMMUNION HRS CELEBRATION
was
this past Friday, May 11. It is such a reward to see and hear our 2nd
Grade students talk about the Jesus and their understanding of the
beautiful gift they receive through the Eucharist. We are all so proud
of them and your partnership with us through this special Sacrament.
Blessings to our students!
HRS BULLY FREE PROGRAM EVALUATION:
This year staff adopted a school wide anti-bully program. To review our
year and students’ perceptions as we continue to expand this program,
HRS surveyed 3rd – 8th grade students. All 50
students responded.
·
98%
felt that it was either somewhat true or true that they learned what to
do and how to respond to bullying this year
·
94%
who participated in lunch club thought this helped groups work through
social issues either somewhat true or true
·
76%
said it was either somewhat true or true that classroom meetings helped
build social skills and anti-bullying behavior
92%
said the HRS School Wide rules some or a lot helped remind students
about what HRS expects of our students
·
90%
said the recognition rewards reinforced behavior choices
·
84%
of students felt the Bully Box helped them report bully behavior
·
86%
of students in these grades feel they can talk to an HRS staff person
Tasks that the students want HRS to continue to work toward a Bully Free
school includes:
classroom meetings, activities and presentations, anti-bully videos
and lunch club. Additional ideas from students are to talk weekly to
students who bully and punish more. Students also suggested that we end
bullying once and for all, which we hope to achieve! They would also
like to see more social activities, keep lunch club optional, hire a
counselor, and recognize 5-8th grade students more often.
Staff will continue these programs and specifically look at areas where
we scored less than 90% to expand so that we can benefit all HRS
students as we create a safe learning environment for all.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO MOVE APPLIANCES OUT OF KITCHEN:
We will be replacing the kitchen floor and repairing the kitchen wall
this spring. We need people to assist by moving out items in the kitchen
beginning May 28 – June 7. If you have time, please call or email
the office so that Rick can gather a group of volunteers.
