Mathematics

Through the study and development of mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies, students are enabled to apply mathematics in their everyday lives.

By providing students with relevant, guided discovery  approaches to mathematics, students will develop confidence and fluency in their ability to interact with mathematics in their daily lives.  Thus the curriculum will:

  • Offer opportunities in the development of technological skills
  • Incorporate technology in the development of mathematical skills and concepts
  • Develop a conceptual understanding of numbers as well as the relationships between them
  • Encourage critical and higher order thinking skills
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of math skills facts, concepts and processes
  • Understand measurement systems
  • Communicate and reason effectively
